CSV Import
csvimportModule to import MISP attributes from a csv file.
Module details
- Module Type
- import
- Input
- CSV format file.
- Output
- MISP Event attributes
- Requirements
- PyMISP
- Features
- In order to parse data from a csv file, a header is required to let the module know which column is matching with known attribute fields / MISP types. This header either comes from the csv file itself or is part of the configuration of the module and should be filled out in MISP plugin settings, each field separated by COMMAS. Fields that do not match with any type known in MISP or are not MISP attribute fields should be ignored in import, using a space or simply nothing between two separators (example: 'ip-src, , comment, '). If the csv file already contains a header that does not start by a '#', you should tick the checkbox 'has_header' to avoid importing it and have potential issues. You can also redefine the header even if it is already contained in the file, by following the rules for headers explained earlier. One reason why you would redefine a header is for instance when you want to skip some fields, or some fields are not valid types.

- Input
- MISP Event
- Output
- MISP Event in a PDF file.
- Requirements
- PyMISP reportlab
- Features
- The module takes care of the PDF file building, and work with any MISP Event. Except the requirement of reportlab, used to create the file, there is no special feature concerning the Event. Some parameters can be given through the config dict. 'MISP_base_url_for_dynamic_link' is your MISP URL, to attach an hyperlink to your event on your MISP instance from the PDF. Keep it clear to avoid hyperlinks in the generated pdf. 'MISP_name_for_metadata' is your CERT or MISP instance name. Used as text in the PDF' metadata 'Activate_textual_description' is a boolean (True or void) to activate the textual description/header abstract of an event 'Activate_galaxy_description' is a boolean (True or void) to activate the description of event related galaxies. 'Activate_related_events' is a boolean (True or void) to activate the description of related event. Be aware this might leak information on confidential events linked to the current event ! 'Activate_internationalization_fonts' is a boolean (True or void) to activate Noto fonts instead of default fonts (Helvetica). This allows the support of CJK alphabet. Be sure to have followed the procedure to download Noto fonts (~70Mo) in the right place (/tools/pdf_fonts/Noto_TTF), to allow PyMisp to find and use them during PDF generation. 'Custom_fonts_path' is a text (path or void) to the TTF file of your choice, to create the PDF with it. Be aware the PDF won't support bold/italic/special style anymore with this option

Extuno Lookup
extunoQuery Extuno for the reputation of a browser extension, an IDE extension or a package, identified by its store id or its listing URL.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- A store listing URL, or a text attribute holding `store:id` (e.g. `chrome:cjpalhd...`).
- Output
- A reputation object holding the Extuno verdict, its risk score and the advisory it came from.
- Requirements
- An Extuno API key
- Features
- The module takes a store listing URL, or a `store:id` pair in a text attribute, and reports what Extuno knows about that artifact: whether it appears in the known-malicious catalog, with the threat type and the advisory it came from, and whether Extuno's own static and sandbox analysis reached a verdict on it. It covers browser extensions (Chrome, Firefox, Edge), IDE extensions (VS Code, JetBrains, Eclipse), Discord client mods and the npm, PyPI, Packagist, Maven, WordPress and Open VSX registries. Browser and IDE extensions are the reason the module exists: they are not covered by OSV or any other public advisory database, so an extension id found on a workstation cannot be checked against one. Only the identifier being looked up leaves the MISP instance. The lookup is read-only and never submits the artifact for analysis.

Farsight DNSDB Lookup
farsight_passivednsModule to access Farsight DNSDB Passive DNS.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- A domain, hostname or IP address MISP attribute.
- Output
- Passive-dns objects, resulting from the query on the Farsight Passive DNS API.
- Requirements
- An access to the Farsight Passive DNS API (apikey)
- Features
- This module takes a domain, hostname or IP address MISP attribute as input to query the Farsight Passive DNS API. The results of rdata and rrset lookups are then returned and parsed into passive-dns objects. An API key is required to submit queries to the API. It is also possible to define a custom server URL, and to set a limit of results to get. This limit is set for each lookup, which means we can have an up to the limit number of passive-dns objects resulting from an rdata query about an IP address, but an up to the limit number of passive-dns objects for each lookup queries about a domain or a hostname (== twice the limit).

GoAML Export
goamlexportThis module is used to export MISP events containing transaction objects into GoAML format.
Module details
- Module Type
- export
- Input
- MISP objects (transaction, bank-account, person, legal-entity, geolocation), with references, describing financial transactions and their origin and target.
- Output
- GoAML format file, describing financial transactions, with their origin and target (bank accounts, persons or entities).
- Requirements
- PyMISP MISP objects
- Features
- The module works as long as there is at least one transaction object in the Event. Then in order to have a valid GoAML document, please follow these guidelines: - For each transaction object, use either a bank-account, person, or legal-entity object to describe the origin of the transaction, and again one of them to describe the target of the transaction. - Create an object reference for both origin and target objects of the transaction. - A bank-account object needs a signatory, which is a person object, put as object reference of the bank-account. - A person can have an address, which is a geolocation object, put as object reference of the person. Supported relation types for object references that are recommended for each object are the folowing: - transaction: - 'from', 'from_my_client': Origin of the transaction - at least one of them is required. - 'to', 'to_my_client': Target of the transaction - at least one of them is required. - 'address': Location of the transaction - optional. - bank-account: - 'signatory': Signatory of a bank-account - the reference from bank-account to a signatory is required, but the relation-type is optional at the moment since this reference will always describe a signatory. - 'entity': Entity owning the bank account - optional. - person: - 'address': Address of a person - optional.

ipapi.is Lookup
ipapi_isAn expansion and hover module to enrich an IP address with geolocation, ASN, company and abuse contact data, and VPN (with the provider), proxy, Tor and datacenter detection from ipapi.is.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- An IP address attribute (ip-src or ip-dst).
- Output
- geolocation and asn objects, and an ipapi-is-ip object with the detection flags, the VPN and hosting providers, the company with its abuser score, and the abuse contact.
- Requirements
- An ipapi.is API key (optional: without one the API returns location and network owner only, 30 requests a day)
- Features
- The module takes an IP address attribute as input and looks it up with the [ipapi.is API](https://ipapi.is/developers.html). It returns a geolocation object, an asn object and an ipapi-is-ip object with the detection flags that are set (VPN, proxy, Tor, datacenter, abuser, crawler, mobile, satellite and anycast), the VPN provider, the hosting provider, the organisation the address is registered to with its abuser score, and the abuse contact. The `api_key` is optional: a free ipapi.is account includes 1,000 requests a day. Without a key the API answers 30 requests a day per IP address with the location and the network owner only, without detection flags. The key is sent in the body of a POST request, never in the URL. Private and reserved addresses are not looked up.

IPGeolocation.io Lookup
ipgeolocationAn expansion and hover module to enrich an IP address with geolocation, ASN, company, threat intelligence (threat score, VPN, proxy, Tor, bot and spam signals) and abuse contact information from IPGeolocation.io, either through the API or from local IPGeolocation.io MMDB databases.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- An IP address attribute (ip-src, ip-dst, ip-src|port, ip-dst|port or domain|ip).
- Output
- geolocation, asn and domain-ip objects, and an ipgeolocation-ip object with the threat score, anonymisation signals, company and abuse contact.
- Requirements
- An IPGeolocation.io API key, or IPGeolocation.io MMDB databases stored on the misp-modules host
- Features
- The module takes an IP address attribute as input and answers from one of two sources: - `api_key`: the [IPGeolocation.io API](https://ipgeolocation.io/documentation/ip-location-api.html). Free plans return geolocation and ASN. Paid plans also return the company, threat intelligence (`include=security`), the abuse contact (`include=abuse`) and the hostname; the `include` setting chooses these modules (default `security, abuse, hostname`, `none` for the base lookup only). If the plan does not allow them, the module falls back to the base lookup. Results are cached in memory for `cache_ttl` seconds (default 3600) to save credits on repeated lookups such as hover. - `mmdb_paths`: comma-separated `.mmdb` files or directories of IPGeolocation.io databases: Location, Country, ISP, ASN, Company, Abuse Contact, Security (all versions), Residential Proxy and Hosting, or their combined editions. Names are returned in English. Lookups run locally and nothing is sent to IPGeolocation.io, which suits air-gapped instances and indicators that must not leave the organisation. Several databases are combined; for a field present in more than one, the first file in the list wins. Updated files are picked up automatically within a minute. When `mmdb_paths` is set, the API is never called.

IPInfo.io Lookup
ipinfoAn expansion module to query ipinfo.io to gather more information on a given IP address.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- IP address attribute.
- Output
- Additional information on the IP address, like its geolocation, the autonomous system it is included in, and the related domain(s).
- Requirements
- An ipinfo.io token
- Features
- The module takes an IP address attribute as input and queries the ipinfo.io API. The geolocation information on the IP address is always returned. Depending on the subscription plan, the API returns different pieces of information then: - With a basic plan (free) you get the AS number and the AS organisation name concatenated in the `org` field. - With a paid subscription, the AS information is returned in the `asn` field with additional AS information, and depending on which plan the user has, you can also get information on the privacy method used to protect the IP address, the related domains, or the point of contact related to the IP address in case of an abuse. More information on the responses content is available in the [documentation](https://ipinfo.io/developers).

- Requirements
- An isMalicious API key (free accounts are available): the X-API-KEY value, Base64 of apiKey:apiSecret, shown under API credentials on the isMalicious account page.
- Features
- The module takes an IP, domain, hostname or URL attribute (the domain side of a domain|ip) and queries GET /check on the isMalicious API. It returns a text summary with the malicious flag, risk score, categories and source count. Only threat listings are counted: listings that describe what an indicator is (cloud and CDN ranges, Tor exits, DoH resolvers, ad lists, allowlists) are left out of the categories and of the source count. Hover and expansion share the same handler. The queried indicator is sent over TLS; nothing else leaves the MISP instance besides the configured API key.

Malwagon Lookup
malwagonLook up a SHA256 digest in the Malwagon sandbox and return the scans it already has for it.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- A sha256 or filename|sha256 attribute.
- Output
- A file object for the sample and one sandbox-report object per Malwagon analysis, with the verdict expressed as MISP taxonomy tags.
- Requirements
- A Malwagon API key with the read scope.
- Features
- The module takes a sha256 or filename|sha256 attribute and asks Malwagon which analyses it already holds for that digest. The lookup is free and answers immediately, so it is safe to use on hover: no sample leaves the MISP instance and no detonation quota is spent. Only the digest is sent. Each analysis comes back as a sandbox-report object carrying the verdict, the score and a permalink to the report, referenced from a file object for the sample. The verdict is translated into MISP's own vocabulary - a misp:threat-level tag, plus ioc:artifact-state where the verdict is conclusive - rather than being passed through as a vendor string. To detonate something Malwagon has never seen, use the Malwagon Submit module instead.

Malwagon Submit
malwagon_submitDetonate a sample or a URL in the Malwagon sandbox and return the analysis.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion
- Input
- An attachment, malware-sample or url attribute.
- Output
- A file object for the sample and a sandbox-report object for the Malwagon analysis, with the verdict expressed as MISP taxonomy tags.
- Requirements
- A Malwagon API key with the submit scope.
- Features
- The module takes an attachment, malware-sample or url attribute and detonates it in the Malwagon sandbox. A malware-sample arrives zip-encrypted with the password infected and is unpacked before submission. A file is looked up by its SHA256 first. If Malwagon has already analysed that digest the existing analysis is returned, which is free, instant, and spends no detonation quota; set always_submit to force a fresh detonation instead. The module then polls the scan until it finishes or until poll_timeout seconds have passed, and returns what it has either way, so a long detonation gives back a permalink rather than an error. This module submits the sample itself to a third party, so it is deliberately expansion-only and never runs on hover. Submission is blocked when the attribute carries a TLP tag more restrictive than max_tlp, and scans are created private unless private is set to false. The sandbox image is chosen by the platform from the sample; on the free and community tiers the analysis virtual machine has no internet access at all, which is structural rather than a quota, so network-dependent samples will look inert there.

- Input
- A domain, hostname, IP address, URL, email address or file hash (including filename|hash).
- Output
- MISP text and link attributes with provenance and TLP tags.
- Requirements
- requests An OpenCTI instance and an API token with knowledge read access.

- Read-only GraphQL lookup using OpenCTI's FilterGroup API (OpenCTI 5.12 or later). Set url to the instance base URL (optionally ending in /graphql) and token to its API token. max_results defaults to 20 (1-100) and timeout to 30 seconds (1-120). Domains and IPs are normalized; file hashes, including filename|hash attributes, are matched against the specific hash algorithm. Results contain text context (description, score, author, labels, markings and timestamps), links to OpenCTI and external references. Imported attributes have to_ids=false; TLP markings are retained as tags and other markings as text. Custom markings and OpenCTI access controls are not translated into MISP sharing restrictions. No data is written to OpenCTI and no relationship traversal or synchronization is performed. A result cap notice is returned when more matches are available. No matches produce an empty Attribute list.

- A text attribute containing a key ID, fingerprint or UID, or an email attribute.
- Output
- Linked pgp-key and pgp-meta objects, optional pgp-sign objects, and the original attribute.
- Requirements
- requests PyMISP Install the pgp-key and pgp-message object templates in MISP Install pgp-sign in MISP when extract_signatures is enabled
- Features
- Query the machine-readable HKP index, using https://pgp.circl.lu by default. Return one pgp-key object per result and a pgp-meta object referencing it with extracted-from. Preserve complete UIDs, names, emails, key IDs, fingerprints, dates and server flags. Fetch ASCII-armored public keys by full fingerprint only. Search and retrieval are bounded; individual retrieval failures retain index metadata with an object comment. Keyserver UIDs and flags are unverified claims; signatures and ownership are not validated. pgp-message is provided for message artifacts linked to pgp-meta; this module does not retrieve or decrypt messages. Configuration: keyserver, timeout (default 10 seconds per HTTP request), max_results (default 10, maximum 100). New object templates are bundled for older PyMISP versions. Enable extract_signatures to return pgp-sign objects with the original signature packets, issuer IDs and fingerprints, signature metadata and UID/subkey context. max_signatures limits signature objects across the lookup (default 100, maximum 1000). Issuer claims are preserved without verification.

phishunt Lookup
phishuntLook up a host in phishunt (phishunt.io), the free CC0 feed of live phishing domains: the phishing URLs detected on that exact host, the brand they target, when they were first seen, where they are hosted and which other feeds flag them.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- A domain, hostname or URL attribute.
- Output
- phishing objects with the detected URLs, hostname, IP, targeted brand and first seen time, and a link attribute to the phishunt search page.
- Requirements
- No API key required.
- Features
- The module takes a domain, hostname or URL attribute (for a URL only the host is used) and queries the phishunt search API for it. The API does a substring match, so only the rows whose host is exactly the queried one are kept. Matches come back as phishing objects (URL, hostname, IP, targeted brand, first seen time) with hosting, TLS issuer, provider IP range and the other feeds that flag the same URL (OpenPhish, PhishTank, urlscan.io, Google Safe Browsing, TweetFeed) in the object comment, plus a link to the phishunt search page. At most 25 objects are returned. Only the read-only search endpoint is used: the phishunt analyze endpoints, which would submit the value for analysis, are never called. Detections are automated and can contain false positives, so no MISP tag or confidence score is set from them.

PTR Classification
ptrclassifyClassify PTR hostnames and tag queried attributes with the ptrclassify taxonomy.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- An ip-src, ip-dst, domain|ip, hostname or domain attribute.
- Output
- The tagged input attribute, one ptrclassify object per hostname, and a dns-record object for IP lookups.
- Requirements
- ptrclassify and dnspython Python libraries; DNS access for IP lookups
- Features
- IPv4 and IPv6 attributes are reverse-resolved and every distinct PTR hostname is classified locally using ptrclassify's built-in rules, retaining the queried address to detect IP-encoded naming. Hostname and domain attributes are classified directly, without DNS or an API key. Matching ptrclassify taxonomy tags are added to the queried attribute, retaining its UUID and existing tags, and to PTR answers in a `dns-record` object. One `ptrclassify` object per hostname holds the classification labels, confidence, evidence, rule IDs and potential location hints. Repeated classification fields share the machine tag as their attribute comment; location fields share a rule-ID/code comment. Classification objects reference the queried attribute and, for IP lookups, the DNS object. No match returns an object with `matched=0` without adding tags. Configure `nameserver` to use a specific DNS server; otherwise the system resolver is used. DNS lookups have a five-second lifetime. Classification is heuristic: PTR names are operator-controlled, and inferred locations are hints, not verified geolocation. Hover displays the enrichment; importing the expansion applies the returned tags in MISP. Enable the ptrclassify taxonomy in MISP to manage these tags, and install the ptrclassify MISP object template. The module bundles the template so it also works with PyMISP versions that do not yet include it.

Rulezet Rule Validator
rulezet_validatorValidate the syntax of detection rules (YARA, Sigma, Suricata, Zeek, NOVA, Wazuh, Kunai, NSE, CRS, Splunk, Elastic, KQL, ATR, PLUM, Sagan) with the Rulezet API.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- A rule attribute (yara, sigma, snort, zeek, bro, kusto-query) or a rule object as exported by Rulezet (yara, sigma, suricata, nova-rule, wazuh-rule, owasp-crs-rule, splunk-rule, rulezet-metadata...).
- Output
- A rule-validation MISP object.
- Requirements
- Access to a Rulezet instance (https://rulezet.org by default)
- Features
- This module sends a rule, taken from an attribute (yara, sigma, snort, zeek, bro, kusto-query) or from an object (yara, sigma, suricata, zeek, nse, nse-script, nova-rule, wazuh-rule, kunai-rule, owasp-crs-rule, splunk-rule, elastic-detection-rule, kql-analytics-rule, atr, plum, sagan, rulezet-metadata), to the public validation endpoint of Rulezet (/api/rule/public/validate). Nothing is stored on Rulezet: it is a dry run of the syntax check Rulezet performs on rule creation. The result is returned as a `rule-validation` MISP object holding the format, the validity, and each error and warning reported by the validator, referencing the validated attribute or object.

ScanMalware Lookup
scanmalwareQuery ScanMalware for subdomains, browser-observed hosts and sandbox scan results.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- A domain, hostname, URL or IP address.
- Output
- Domain attributes for the hosts found, plus text and link attributes describing the scan.
- Features
- The module takes a domain, hostname, URL or IP attribute and queries the public ScanMalware API. For a domain or hostname it returns subdomains seen in Certificate Transparency DNS records, and the hosts a browser actually resolved and requested while rendering pages on that domain. For a URL it returns the most recent sandboxed scan of that host, with its verdict and a link to the full report. For an IP it returns the URLs in the public scan archive that resolved to that address. No API key is required: the ScanMalware API is anonymous, and a key only raises the rate limit. Sherlock Lookup
sherlockFind social media accounts by username with Sherlock.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- A target-user, github-username, text, or email attribute. A leading @ on a username is removed.
- Output
- One user-account object per match, with username, platform, profile link and a reference to the input.
- Requirements
- Install the sherlock-project CLI separately (for example: pipx install sherlock-project). No API key required.
- Features
- Runs the Sherlock CLI and returns user-account objects for claimed usernames only. Text is searched as a single literal username, without extracting names or generating variants. Email input uses the local part before @ as a candidate username; matches do not verify email ownership or identity. Install Sherlock for the misp-modules service user and put sherlock on its PATH, or set sherlock_path to the executable's absolute path (not a shell command). Optional sites is a comma-separated list of Sherlock site names; github-username defaults to GitHub only. timeout is the per-site timeout in seconds (default 10); scan_timeout bounds the whole process (default 120). Both must be positive finite numbers. Keep scan_timeout below the MISP enrichment and module-server request timeouts, or raise those timeouts for broad searches. Sherlock contacts the selected sites and downloads its current site definitions. Results can contain false positives and should be reviewed.

SoChain
sochainGet the balance, activity, counterparties and address poisoning findings of a BTC, LTC, DOGE or ZEC address from SoChain.
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- A btc attribute, or a coin-address object with a BTC, LTC, DOGE or ZEC address.
- Output
- coin-address objects: the address, its recent counterparties and any look-alike addresses.
- Requirements
- requests PyMISP
- Features
- Query the SoChain API v3 for a btc attribute or a coin-address object. A btc attribute is looked up on Bitcoin. A coin-address object is looked up on the network named by its symbol (BTC, LTC, DOGE or ZEC); without a symbol, the network is the first of Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin and Zcash on which SoChain says the address is valid. The result is a coin-address object with the balance, total received and sent, the number of transactions and the first and last activity, referencing the input. Recent counterparties are returned as coin-address objects linked with `paid` references (5 on hover, 50 when the magnifying glass is clicked), whose comments give the amount, transaction and block. When look-alike addresses sent the address dust to poison its history, each one is returned as a coin-address object that `impersonates` the address it copies. No API key is needed for up to 2,500 lookups a day per IP. With a key from https://sochain.com/dashboard, lookups count against that account's plan.

Vulnerability Lookup
vulnerability_lookupExpand vulnerabilities and CPEs with Vulnerability Lookup advisories and enrichment
Module details
- Module Type
- expansion hover
- Input
- Vulnerability or CPE attribute
- Output
- Vulnerability, weakness, annotation, sighting, EPSS and KEV objects. Relationships are included in each object's ObjectReference list and in a deduplicated results.ObjectReference list, with source and target UUIDs and relationship types.
- Requirements
- requests pymisp
- Features
- Query vulnerability identifiers or CPEs. Import linked advisories, comments, bundles, sightings, storage metadata, EPSS scores and known-exploited assertions as related MISP content. Enable with_timeline to include dated milestones as an annotation. api_url defaults to https://vulnerability.circl.lu (instance root, without /api). timeout defaults to 30 seconds per request (maximum 120). max_related defaults to 50 (0-100): it bounds alias lookup attempts, CPE results and each enrichment section. with_linked, with_comments, with_bundles, with_sightings, with_meta, with_epss and with_kev default to true; with_timeline defaults to false. Boolean options accept true/false or their string equivalents. Unset options (null or blank strings from MISP) use their documented defaults. The request's top-level timeout limits total module execution independently of config.timeout. CPE lookup uses cpe_source (default cvelistv5) and cpe_page (default 1). Results match vendor and product; exact version applicability must be checked. CPE search imports advisories from one bounded page; the optional community and priority lookups apply to vulnerability ID input. Original advisory JSON is retained as a base64 payload; community, EPSS and KEV records retain JSON attachments. Unavailable optional data does not discard the advisory. The companion vulnerability-sighting, epss-score and known-exploited-vulnerability templates are bundled for compatibility with existing PyMISP releases.
